Saxophone extravaganza hosted by Sarah Markham

Sarah's 40th Birthday Concert.

Come and celebrate with a feast of saxophone music. The lunchtime concert will feature music for saxophone and piano played by saxophonists Sarah Markham and Professor Lynn Klock of the University of Massachusetts, with pianist Paul Turner.

The evening concert features the National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain' unique Sax Family, as well as a reunion of the Tribune Saxophone Octet, plus a 12 piece ensemble put together especially for the occasion (including eminent saxophonists Sarah Field, Martin Kerrigan, Lynn Klock, Julia Mills, Alex Mitchell, Alistair Parnell, and James Rae). There will also be guest ensembles Equinox and the Yorkshire Saxophone Choir. The grand finale is a mass saxophone premiere performance of a new work by Rachel Stott written especially for the event.

Summer Saxophone Spectacular!


NSC RESIDENTIAL COURSE

We are delighted to announce that the first NSC residential course will take place this summer in the Bournville area of Birmingham. Organised with the generous support of Bournville Village Trust and sponsored by Saxtet Publications, the course is aimed at saxophonists seeking ensemble playing experience.


Open to saxophonists of all ages and standards, participants will be able to rehearse and perform with the NSC, enhance their performance skills, learn new repertoire, and have the chance to try out the more extreme saxes in the NSC, such as the soprillo or contrabass.


Tutors: Nigel Wood, Richard Ingham, Andy Scott, Gerard McChrystal, NSC members.


Thursday 12th August 2010 to Sunday 15th August 2010. Weoley Hill, Selly Oak, Birmingham.

There will also be two concerts featuring the NSC and course participants:

United Reformed Church, Weoley Hill, Birmingham. Saturday 14th August, 7.30pm. Tickets = £5

Weoley Hill Village Hall, Weoley Hill, Birmingham. Sunday 15th August, 6pm. Tickets = £5
